Huawei Unveils Solutions for a Better Connected Railway at CommunicAsia2015 in Singapore

[Shenzhen, China, June 10, 2015] Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, featured its complete ICT solutions portfolio, at CommunicAsia2015 in Singapore, with the theme of "Innovative ICT, Building a Better Connected World." Showcasing ICT solutions in the fields of safe city, smart transportation, intelligent education, and smart building, Huawei demonstrated how innovative ICT solutions help construct a better connected world in which people live a digitalized life that features enhanced security and convenience.

As connectivity creates values, building a better connected world has become a trend, and more and more industries are using ICT solutions to create more values. As the processes of globalization and urbanization gain momentum, the demands for land transportation keep increasing at a fast pace, which in turn greatly stimulates the needs for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly rail transport. In this context, it has become an imperative issue for the rail transport industry to achieve faster and balanced growth with ICT solutions. Highlighting the concept of "Innovative ICT, Building a Better Connected Railway," Huawei showcased a set of innovative ICT solutions for both railway lines and urban rail transit systems. These solutions drew wide attention from management and experts in the rail transport industry.

Committed to meeting the needs of its customers, Huawei has developed a series of tailor-made solutions that adapt to various application scenarios of rail transport, including the Urban Rail eLTE Multi-Service Unified Bearer Solution, Railway Operational Communication Solution, Agile Station Solution, and Fusion OCC Solution, which won unanimous praise from industrial visitors.

  • Urban Rail eLTE Multi-Service Unified Bearer Solution: The solution provides a series of innovative urban rail transit services, including a hyper-bandwidth train-ground communication platform, a 9-leveled QoS mechanism that assures zero interruption for mission-critical services, and a unified network that bears multiple services, such as communication-based train control (CBTC), passenger information system (PIS), trunking, and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV). This solution has been deployed in global rail transport projects, including the Zhengzhou Metro and Shuohuang Railway Line projects in China, and the light rail project in Ethiopia. While enhancing the reliability of rail transport service, this solution helped operators significantly increased their transport capacity.
  • Railway Operational Communication Solution: The solution adopts a high reliability design that features 99.999% end-to-end reliability and flexibly adapts to scenarios of both new line construction and restructuring of existing lines that require different levels of train control. This solution has been deployed in rail transit projects around the world, including the Sochi High-speed Railway in Russia, PRASA GSM-R project in South Africa, and EKB High-speed Railway project in Turkey, helping operators build railway operational communication networks that are highly reliable, flexible, and evolvable.

Committed to the principles of creating values through connectivity and achieving win-win results through collaboration, Huawei has been serving the rail transport industry for nearly 20 years since 1996. Huawei ICT solutions and products have been deployed to serve a total length of 87,000 km of railway lines across the globe, equivalent to two loops around the earth. Over the years, Huawei has actively promoted the application of innovative ICT solutions in the rail transport industry, committed to building a better connected rail transport system that features close connection and interaction between people, rolling stocks, railway lines, railway stations, and OCCs, as well as intelligent organization of transport resources, coordinated marketing for passenger and freight services, and efficient management of rail operations. Huawei has always been committed to the strategy of "being integrated" and "Openness, Cooperation, Win-win." Looking ahead, Huawei will continue to work with global partners to help customers build better connected rail transport systems and construct an environmentally friendly ecosystem for the rail transport industry.
